Hinjat Shamil serves as a Board Member at both the Ethiopian Securities Exchange and the Development Bank of Ethiopia, and holds the position of Senior Advisor for Economic Reforms at the Ministry of Finance since October 2019, focusing on debt management, privatization, and financial sector reforms. Prior experience includes roles as a Partnership Management Expert at the Ministry of Finance, where efforts were directed towards external resource mobilization for Ethiopia’s industrial development, and as a Policy Analyst at UNDP, where support was provided for the Post-2015 agenda and aid effectiveness. Hinjat also completed a Master of Arts in International Public Policy with a focus on International Development from Johns Hopkins SAIS, following a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Addis Ababa University.

The Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) is the first and sole organized securities exchange in Ethiopia. ESX is recognized as a self-regulatory organization (SRO) under the Capital Market's Proclamation, to be licensed by the ECMA. As a pioneer securities exchange and market organizer, ESX aims to play a critical role in the development and growth of the Ethiopian capital market.
