Andrea Catarsi

Copernicus Data Processing Operations Engineer at EUMETSAT

Andrea Catarsi has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. From 2018 to present, they have worked at EUMETSAT, first as a Spacecraft Controller for the Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) mission and later as a Multi-Mission Performance Analyst for various EUMETSAT missions. In these roles, they were responsible for monitoring the status and performance of data processing systems and instruments, analyzing performance data, and implementing changes as needed.

Prior to their work at EUMETSAT, Andrea worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer for two different projects. From 2017 to 2018, they were responsible for a thermal experiment in the 67th ESA Parabolic Flight Campaign. And from 2015 to 2017, they were a sub-team and CAD responsible for the U-PHOS Project within the REXUS-BEXUS program. This project involved the successful launch and testing of a thermal management device on a sounding rocket.

Throughout their work experience, Andrea has demonstrated their expertise in engineering, problem-solving, and project management.

Andrea Catarsi completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Aerospace Engineering at Università di Pisa from 2011 to 2015. During this time, Andrea also obtained a Certificate of Advanced English from the University of Cambridge in July 2013. In October 2015, Andrea achieved an IELTS score of 7.5 from Cambridge English Language Assessment. Afterwards, Andrea pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical/Space Engineering at Università di Pisa from 2015 to 2018. As part of the Master's program, Andrea worked as a visiting student at the University of Brighton in 2017, where they focused on their Master's Thesis.
