Max Flaig

Max Flaig is a scientist with a specialization in wood and pulp technology, focusing on the chemotaxonomic identification of wood species and origin in paper through chemical fingerprinting. Max conducted research at the University of Hamburg, combining TD-GC-MS analytics with database-driven approaches to promote sustainable forestry and traceability of wood products. Currently, Max serves as the Head of Department for Organic Contaminants at Eurofins WEJ Contaminants GmbH, leading teams in high-throughput GC-based analysis of food and feed while ensuring quality and safety within global supply chains. With a passion for bridging science and application, Max actively engages with professionals in analytical chemistry and sustainable resource management.
