Jonathan Galea

Jonathan Galea is a seasoned legal professional specializing in cryptocurrency and regulatory compliance. Currently serving as Counsel at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP since March 2025, Jonathan is part of the CahillNXT team, focusing on advisory work related to MiCA and other EU legislation. Concurrently, Jonathan is a Technical Expert at the European Banking Authority, advising on financial crime risks for crypto-asset service providers. As a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Malta, Jonathan teaches a Masters course on DLT and crypto. Additionally, Jonathan has held leadership roles including Chairperson of the VFA Business Section at The Malta Chamber and Partner at BCAS, a regulatory consultancy for the crypto industry. Jonathan co-founded Bitmalta, the Maltese association advocating for blockchain technology, and has previous experience as Legal Counsel at NetEnt and a Lawyer at CCX Legal, focusing on AML and virtual currencies. Jonathan holds a Doctor of Laws and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Malta, along with a certification in C programming.
