Jonathan Overett Somnier

Jonathan Overett Somnier is a seasoned legal and compliance professional with extensive experience in the financial services sector. Since December 2012, Jonathan has served as the Head of the Legal & Compliance Unit at the European Banking Authority, leading a team of 15 in providing legal support and compliance functions, acting as general counsel, ethics officer, and data protection officer. Prior to this role, Jonathan held positions including Counsel in the General Counsel's Division at the Financial Services Authority, where co-lead responsibilities included CRD4 implementation, and Legal Adviser at the European Securities and Markets Authority, contributing to various regulatory and governance aspects. Jonathan began a legal career as an Associate in Financial Services and Funds at Taylor Wessing after earning a MA in Law from the University of Cambridge and additional studies at Utrecht University.
