Sofia Velasco is an accomplished economist currently serving as an Economist in Monetary Analysis at the European Central Bank since January 2022, previously holding the role of Senior Financial Stability Expert focused on Stress Test Modelling. Prior experience includes positions as an Economist and Associate Economist at the Central Bank of Ireland from October 2017 to January 2022, and earlier roles at the European Central Bank as a Consultant and Trainee in the Macro-Financial Policies Division. Sofia's career commenced with internships at the European Climate Foundation and GreenLabUC, along with a role as a Teaching Assistant at Freie Universität Berlin, where tutoring covered macroeconomic principles. Sofia holds a Master’s degree in Macroeconomic Policy and Financial Markets from the Barcelona School of Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from both Freie Universität Berlin and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Currently, Sofia is a PhD candidate at Queen Mary University of London.
