Christian S.

Christian S. has a diverse work experience spanning various legal roles in different organizations. Their most recent position is as the Head of Section Legal Services at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) starting in December 2022. Prior to that, they served as an Alternate/Additional Member of the Board of Appeal at the European Chemicals Agency from May 2021 onwards. From January 2020 to November 2022, Christian worked as a Legal Officer at the European Medicines Agency.

Before joining the agencies, Christian held the position of Legal Advisor at the European Chemicals Agency from February 2011 to January 2020. Christian also gained experience in private law firms, having worked as a Rechtsanwalt (lawyer) at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek from 2010 to 2011 and at PwC Legal from November 2009 to February 2010.

Christian started their legal career as a Rechtsreferendar (trainee lawyer) at the European Commission from January 2009 to March 2009. Christian later continued their traineeship at Landgericht Bonn from 2007 to 2009 and at Linklaters from March 2008 to December 2008. Additionally, they briefly served as a Rechtsreferendar at the Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations System from December 2007 to February 2008.

Christian S. completed their first degree, Erste Juristische Staatsprüfung, in Law from the Universität Passau. Christian then attended the College of Europe from 2005 to 2006 where they pursued an LL.M. in European law. Afterward, Christian S. passed the bar exam at OLG Köln in 2009. In 2022, they obtained a Mediator (univ. geprüft) degree from FernUniversität in Hagen.
