Francois Mestre has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Francois is currently working as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), leading the digital transformation program and focusing on the development of the Next Generation Surveillance System. In this role, they are responsible for building strategic relations with EU institutions and other stakeholders.
Prior to their current role, Francois worked as a blogger on IT law at CIOlaws.com, where they demystified legal concepts for the IT community. Before that, they served as the Head of Scientific and Regulatory Information Systems at the European Chemicals Agency, where they were responsible for managing IT services for industry compliance. Additionally, they held the position of Head of Management Information Systems at the same agency.
Francois also has experience working as the Director of ICT (CIO) at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and as an IT Regional Manager at the French Treasury.
Francois Mestre has an extensive education history. Francois obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Law from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they attended Telecom Bretagne from 1992 to 1997 and earned a Master's Degree in Telecom Engineering. In addition, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D. from 2005 to 2007. Francois Mestre also holds a variety of certifications. Francois became a Certified Information Systems Auditor® (CISA) and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT® (CGEIT) in March 2011. In October 2009, they obtained the PRINCE2 certification. Furthermore, they became an ITIL Certified Manager in April 2007.
