John Kinsman is an expert in social and behaviour change currently serving at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) since April 2019, focusing on the prevention and control of communicable diseases, including vaccine acceptance and antimicrobial resistance. Previously, John held the position of Senior Researcher and Associate Professor at Umeå University from 2010 to March 2019, leading a significant contract study on cross-border health threats. Prior experience includes a role as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Amsterdam, coordinating research on HIV testing in East Africa, and serving as Coordinator for the Medical Research Council Programme on AIDS in Uganda from 1996 to 2001, managing large-scale HIV prevention trials. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Medical Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam, a Master of Science in Public Health Education and Promotion from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Exeter.
