Magdalena Kouneva is a highly experienced professional in green and sustainable finance, currently serving as the Team Lead for Green and Sustainable Finance at the European Commission since July 2022. Kouneva has a strong background in managing innovative financing mechanisms, having held the position of Director General at the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership and leading projects at the European Commission’s DG NEAR. Prior experience includes advising on international development finance at UNDP, public sector consulting, and advancing public administration reforms for the OSCE. Kouneva's educational background includes a Master's of Law from Columbia University, an LL.M. in European Law from the European University Institute, and a Jurist degree from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
