Florencia Franzini

Senior Researcher at European Forest Institute

Florencia Franzini is a researcher at the European Forest Institute since April 2023, focusing on the perceptions of European forest practitioners regarding climate-smart forestry practices. Previously, Florencia served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki from January 2019 to March 2023, engaging in the DeCarbonHome project that addressed climate and societal challenges in the Finnish housing system. Florencia was a student representative board member for the AGFOREE Doctoral Programme, overseeing doctoral degree applications and curriculum development. Research during the PhD program concentrated on the role of public administration in advancing wooden multistory construction in Finland, employing qualitative and quantitative methods. Earlier experience includes various roles related to communication, government relations, and research at institutions including NAFO, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Osa Conservation. Florencia holds a Doctor of Science in Forestry and a Master of Science in Forest Sciences and Business from the University of Helsinki, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Marine Vertebrate Biology from Stony Brook University.
