Head Of The Talent Selection And Outreach Unit at European Parliament

Paul Emmett has a diverse work experience in various roles within the European Parliament and European Commission. Paul started their career as a Trainee in the Latin America Directorate of the DG External Relations at the European Commission in 2002. Paul then worked as a Trainee in Foreign Affairs and later became a Parliamentary Assistant at the European Parliament from 2002 to 2007. In 2007, they served as an Administrator in the Culture and Education Committee Secretariat at the European Parliament. Paul joined the European Commission in 2008 as a Project Manager and later became a Team Leader in the Institution Building Unit of the DG Enlargement. In 2011, Paul returned to the European Parliament as a Human Resources Administrator and later became an Adviser to the Director for HR Development. Most recently, they have held the positions of Acting Head and Head of the Talent Selection and Outreach Unit at the European Parliament since 2021. Throughout their career, Paul has focused on HR strategy, policy development, talent selection, recruitment, career development, and learning and development.

Paul Emmett has a diverse education history. In 2020, they attended the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and completed the Oxford Leading Strategic Projects Programme, an executive education program. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2001, they obtained an MA in International Studies (International Political Economy) from the University of Birmingham. Paul also holds a BA in Medieval and Modern History from the same university, which they earned between 1997 and 2000. Furthermore, Paul has attended the European School of Brussels I from 1984 to 1996.
