Christos Sgaras

Christos Sgaras has extensive work experience in the field of information security. Christos began their career in 2004 as an Airman Staff Sergeant in the Hellenic Air Force (HAF). In 2006, they worked as an Information Systems Security Consultant at EUROPEAN DYNAMICS. From 2007 to 2008, they were an Information Security Strategy Consultant at ENCODE S.A., where they managed various information security projects for government, banking, telecommunications, and manufacturing sectors. In 2009, they joined Europol as an Information Assurance Specialist and later progressed to the role of Senior Information Security Specialist. Since 2019, they have held the position of Head of Team - Information Security & Business Continuity at Europol. Their responsibilities include implementing and auditing Information Security Management Systems, developing security documentation, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Christos Sgaras has a diverse educational background in the field of information technology and cybersecurity. Christos completed a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Forensic Computing & Cybercrime Investigation from University College Dublin in 2011-2013. Prior to that, they obtained another Master of Science (MSc) degree in Information & Communication Systems Security from the University of the Aegean in 2005-2006. Christos also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Applied Informatics from the University of Macedonia, which they earned from 1999 to 2004. In addition to their formal education, Christos Sgaras has obtained several certifications in various areas of information security and privacy. Christos also holds an ITIL Foundation Certificate from EXIN without mentioning the year of obtaining it.
