Ger van der Wal

Ger van der Wal has a diverse work experience spanning from 2006 to present. Ger is currently working as a Statenlid (provincial council member) for Provincie Overijssel. In this role, they focus on the domains of Economy (MKB) and Environment & Energy.

Prior to this, Ger worked as the Head of Sales in the agricultural team of Easyfairs, where they supported a talented team and aimed to make a difference with their enthusiasm and passion.

Before joining Easyfairs, Ger operated their own consultancy, Ger van der Wal Consultancy, where they specialized in advising the edible insect industry. Ger worked as a freelancer and provided expertise on farming, processing, and selling insects for human consumption.

Additionally, Ger served as a Public Affairs Consultant for the Belgian Insect Industry Federation (BiiF) and as a Keurmeester Schilderwerk (inspector of painting work) for Vereniging Eigen Huis.

Ger's entrepreneurial journey began with the founding of DeliBugs, a pioneering company in the insect industry. DeliBugs was the first in the Netherlands to supply products with insects to supermarkets, including insect lollipops at Albert Heijn. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in November 2017 due to challenges with export licenses. Prior to DeliBugs, Ger worked as the Managing Director of Insect Europe BV, where they harvested and sold various edible insects.

Furthermore, Ger gained experience as a representative for NVB Ubbens Bouwstoffen and SFA Benelux BV, specializing in the construction and coatings industry respectively. Ger also held the position of Service Center Manager at Sigma Coatings Nederland.
