Johnny Carr is an experienced professional in the cinema industry, currently serving as Group Event Cinema Manager at Vue International since August 2019, while also holding a secondment as Head of Screen Content at CinemaxX Denmark. Since February 2017, Johnny has been a board member of the Event Cinema Association. Previous roles at Vue Entertainment from September 2005 to August 2019 included Event Cinema Manager for the UK and Ireland, Film and Event Cinema Buyer, Marketing and Operations Manager, and Deputy General Manager. Earlier in the career, Johnny held the position of General Manager at Carrickfergus Omniplex and was a team member at various cinema chains including Picturehouse Cinemas Ltd, Virgin Cinemas, and Bangor Cineplex. Johnny holds a BA (Hons) in Government Policy and Management from Robert Gordon University, obtained between 1999 and 2003.

Cinemas are a vital part of our cultural landscape offering a place for audiences to enjoy film and other forms of cultural activity such as music, dance, opera, theatre and sport. The Event Cinema Association (ECA) is a non-profit organisation, whose mission is to support and promote event cinema for content providers, distributors and exhibitors looking to offer audiences a wider range of experiences. The ECA also provides information and analysis for distributors and exhibitors of event cinema to help grow the sector, and support in tackling the technical and commercial issues that affect it.
