Alexey Zimarev

Head of Product at Event Store

Alexey Zimarev has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles.

Alexey started their career as a Technical Lead at EZ Phone B.V., where they created the infrastructure for a small wholesale telephony operator. Alexey worked with Cisco VoIP equipment, SS7/C7, H323 and SIP protocols, and billing systems for wholesale telephony.

Alexey then moved on to work as a Principal Consultant at St Matthew Chartered Certified Accountants, leading the development of a web-based accounting/finance solution on the Lotus Notes/Domino platform. Alexey also integrated the Lotus Domino backend with the SAP FI module.

After that, Alexey joined Philips as a Lead Developer, participating in various projects in different roles, including software architecture, data analysis, and modeling. Alexey became an expert in several key areas of software development and architecture, working with technologies such as Lotus Notes, Oracle, and SharePoint.

Following their role at Philips, Alexey worked as a Senior Developer at Electrabel, where they contributed to the development of an energy trading platform, focusing on GUI changes, business logic, and reporting.

Alexey then joined Statoil as a Senior Consultant, specializing in OpenLink Endur development for energy trading and mid-office activities.

Alexey later served as the Chief Architect at Multicase Norge AS, where they established architectural principles and guidelines and contributed to software development.

In 2015, they joined ABAX as the Chief Architect. In this role, they focused on strategic initiatives such as asynchronous messaging, microservices, cloud migration, and DevOps culture building. Alexey also provided advice and coaching and managed engineering and product complexity.

Simultaneously, Alexey founded Ubiquitous AS and worked as the CEO, offering trainings on Domain-Driven Design, Event Sourcing, Event-Driven Architecture, and messaging to .NET developers and architects.

More recently, Alexey joined Event Store as the Head of Product. Prior to this, they worked as a Developer Advocate for the company, engaging with the developers' community, assisting with pre-sales and customer success meetings, and helping customers design effective systems using EventStoreDB and Event Store Cloud.

Additionally, Alexey has published a book titled "Hands-On Domain Driven Design with .NET" as an author for Packt.

Alexey Zimarev completed a Professional Certificate in Management from The Open University from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1993, they attended the National Research University of Electronic Technology (MIET), although the degree name and field of study are unspecified. In 2015, Alexey began pursuing a field of study in Data Science at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, but it is unclear if they have completed a degree from there. In terms of additional certifications, Alexey obtained a Certificate in Innovation Leadership from MIT Bootcamps in August 2021. Alexey also earned certificates in "Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects" from Coursera Course Certificates in January 2016, "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" and "R Programming" from Coursera Verified Certificates in April and March 2015 respectively. Alexey's participation in the Building Applications with React and Flux course from Pluralsight and the edX Verified Certificate for Leadership for Engineers from edX is mentioned, but the dates of their completion are not provided.
