Laisha T. Dougherty

Laisha T. Dougherty, MPP, is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in public service and community engagement. Currently serving as the Special Assistant to the President & CEO at Events DC since February 2023, Laisha has previously held the position of Chief of Staff at the Council of the District of Columbia. With a background in external affairs and community relations at Pepco Holdings, Laisha contributed to the DC Powerline Undergrounding Initiative, enhancing the resilience of the city’s infrastructure. Additional roles include serving as the Constituent Services Coordinator at the Council of the District of Columbia, where Laisha established processes for resolving constituent inquiries, and as Public Outreach Coordinator for the Nexus Global Youth Summit, focusing on policy developments in philanthropy. Laisha's early career also includes a fellowship with the United Nations Association, concentrating on gender inequality issues. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Policy from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Hampton University.
