Jared Rand

Jared Rand has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and analytics. Jared is currently employed at Everstream Analytics as a Principal Data Scientist since April 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Athenium Analytics as a Senior NLP Data Scientist from December 2019 to December 2021, where they led the NLP team and implemented NLP and ML solutions for insurance products.

Before joining Athenium Analytics, Jared worked at Toast, Inc. as a Senior Data Scientist. In this role, they led the fintech data science team and developed a revenue forecasting model using neural networks. Jared also played a key role in launching Toast Capital with production models for probability of default and revenue forecasting. Additionally, they worked on various prototypes including text classification of menu items, recommendation engine for menu items, sales forecasting with weather data, and fraud detection.

Jared's work experience also includes founding and operating The Knowledge Roundtable, an education-focused organization that they started in 2012 and sold in April 2018. Jared was also a Big Data Analyst at PowerAdvocate from June 2016 to April 2017 and an Entrepreneurship Fellow at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Isenberg School of Management, UMass from September 2014 to May 2016.

Prior to entering the field of data science, Jared worked as a Content Developer at GEX Inc, where they developed online math, statistics, science, and finance problems for textbooks. Jared also gained research experience as a Graduate Researcher at the University of Texas at Austin Astronomy Department, focusing on the valuation of spectrographs and analysis techniques for improved detection of binary stars. Jared also marketed proprietary optics to astronomy researchers during this time.

Jared's academic research experience includes being an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst Astronomy Department from September 2006 to May 2009, and at the Cornell University Astronomy Department for a brief period in the summer of 2008.

Jared Rand's education history is as follows:

Jared Rand obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. Jared attended this program from 2014 to 2016.

Prior to their MBA, Jared pursued the Graduate Astronomy Program at The University of Texas at Austin from 2009 to 2010. However, they did not complete a degree during this period.

Jared's undergraduate education was at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they received a Bachelor of Science degree. Jared'sstudies encompassed Astronomy, Physics, and Mathematics from 2005 to 2009.

Before attending college, Jared earned their High School Diploma from Spaulding High School, where they completed their secondary education from 2001 to 2005.

In addition to their formal education, Jared has obtained several certifications. These include Influencing People and Inspiring and Motivating Individuals, both from Coursera, in October 2020 and September 2020 respectively. Jared has also earned the SOA/CAS Exam 3F/MFE certification from SOA/CAS in April 2012, and the SOA/CAS Exam 2/FM and SOA/CAS Exam 1/P certifications in February 2011 and January 2011 respectively.
