Derek Lord

Derek Lord has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Derek started their career as a Tutor at Algonquin College, where they effectively communicated complex business concepts to peers. At State Farm, Derek worked as an Office Representative, training new staff and achieving impressive sales results by promoting insurance. Derek then moved on to CUTCO Cutlery as a Salesman, where they successfully sold high-quality knives and utensils and generated new sales leads.

In 2012 and 2013, Derek worked as a Technical IT Assistant at the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, programming macros, developing online reports, and managing databases. Derek then transitioned to the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services as a Canadian Police Information Centre Operator, analyzing and re-engineering business processes and ensuring data integrity.

From 2015 to 2019, Derek joined Alessa, a CaseWare RCM product, where they held roles as a Data Analytics Consultant and later as a Senior Data Analytics Consultant. Derek designed and implemented data analytics solutions, provided on-site training to clients, and conducted data mining and discovery.

Currently, Derek is involved with DistillerSR as a Solution Engineer. Derek initially joined the company in 2019 and later took on the role of Team Lead in 2020. Derek Lord began their education at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology from 2007 to 2010, where they pursued a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance. After completing their degree at Algonquin College, Derek moved on to Ryerson University from 2011 to 2013 for their Bachelor of Commerce in Technology Management, specializing in Business Technology Management. Alongside their academic qualifications, Derek also obtained several certifications throughout their education and career. In 2009, they achieved the Other-Than-Life (OTL) certification from State Farm. In 2010, they obtained the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) from Advocis and the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) from the Canadian Securities Institute. Derek continued to advance their skills by obtaining the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification from the Project Management Institute in 2013. Lastly, in 2015, Derek achieved the ITIL Foundation Level certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice.
