Lyliane U.

Process Engineer at Evolve Biologics

Lyliane U. has a diverse range of work experience in various engineering and technical roles. Lyliane began their career as a Lab Technician at Bralirwa sarl in 2012 before transitioning to a Research Assistant position at the University of Waterloo in 2013. In 2013, they also worked as a Chemical Engineer intern and Process Engineer intern at Biorem, where they gained experience in monitoring and troubleshooting industrial air treatment systems.

From 2015 to 2019, Lyliane worked at the University of Waterloo as a Graduate Research Assistant, conducting experimental studies to develop a chemically defined medium for insect cell culture and participating in the study for improving the utility of co-expression in BEVS for the production of virus-like particles. Lyliane utilized techniques such as insect cell cultivation, DNA isolation, plasmid transformation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, bacterial culturing, virus amplification, ultracentrifugation, Western blot, SDS-PAGE, and flow-cytometry.

In 2015, Lyliane also worked as a Technician Specialist at Lorama Group, where they designed experiments, conducted tests to evaluate raw materials in coatings, performed color matching and development, and collaborated with technical groups and salespeople to engineer solutions.

Lyliane then joined Quattro Paper Technologies in 2016 as an Associate Process Engineer, where they conducted process simulations, produced process flow diagrams for pulp and paper plants, and investigated innovative technologies for coffee cup recycling.

In 2018, Lyliane had two roles. First, they worked as a QA Technician at Brick Brewing Co Limited. Later, they joined Elanco as a Downstream Process Specialist, providing technical subject matter expert (SME) support to change controls, investigations, deviations, and CAPAs related to the manufacturing process of nucleic acid vaccines. Lyliane also reviewed and updated production master batch records and standard operating procedures and led the operations of various equipment.

Most recently, Lyliane started working at ADVENT Engineering Services, Inc. in 2019 as a Process Specialist, where they continued to provide support in process-related activities until April 2022. Lyliane is currently employed as a Process Engineer at Evolve Biologics, starting in April 2022.

Lyliane U. began their education in 2011 at the University of Waterloo, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Lyliane remained at the university until 2016 when they completed their studies as a BSc candidate in Chemical Engineering.

In terms of additional certifications, Lyliane attained a Certificate in Critical Communication Skills from the Schulich School of Business - York University in November 2022. In September 2022, they achieved a certification in Electrical Systems: Reading Drawings and Schematics through LinkedIn. Furthermore, in July 2015, Lyliane obtained certifications in Inherently Safer Design and Safety in The Chemical process industries from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Looking ahead, Lyliane is expected to obtain their Professional Engineer (PE) designation from the Professional Engineers Ontario in March 2023.
