Thomas Ahrens is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in high throughput biology and assay development. Currently serving as Group Leader in both the Hit Identification & Biophysics and Bioreagents, Assay Development and Screening departments at Evotec since January 2013, Thomas has a strong background in biophysics and screening technologies. Previous roles include Team Leader for Assay Development & Hit Finding at BioFocus, where expertise in high throughput screening of up to 800,000 compounds and assay development for various readout types was demonstrated. Earlier positions include Team Leader at Discovery Partners International, Inc. and PostDoc at Biozentrum, University of Basel, focusing on protein biochemistry and structural biology. Thomas earned a PhD from the Institute of Toxicology and Genetics, Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, with a thesis on hyaluronic acid receptor-mediated proliferation of malignant melanoma, and has relevant academic credentials from multiple prestigious institutions in Germany and the USA.
