Lance Burgess

Lance Burgess has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Lance is currently working at Excellus BCBS as the VP Diversified Growth | Sales Leader, where they manage multiple teams and leaders. In this role, Lance is responsible for sales growth, pharmacy program sales, and business diversification. Lance also oversees merger and acquisition market expansion strategy and development.

Before joining Excellus BCBS, Lance served as the Area President for Gallagher Benefit Services in 2021. Lance led the New York team, focusing on insurance, risk management, and consulting services. Their responsibilities included acquiring and integrating new talent, achieving financial targets, managing carrier relationships, and serving as the executive sponsor for key accounts.

Additionally, Lance is an experienced board member, having served on the board of Dream Big! Inclusion in Motion, Canandaigua Junior Baseball & Softball, and Finger Lakes Community College. Lance also held the position of Vice President of Sales at Lifetime Benefit Solutions, Inc.

Earlier in their career, Lance worked as a Market Leader and Sales Executive at Excellus BCBS. Lance started their career as a Sales Associate at The MedAmerica Insurance Companies and later became a Team Lead at the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Lance Burgess attended Cayuga Community College from 1998 to 2000, where they obtained an Associates in Arts, Humanities & Social Science degree. Following that, they studied at SUNY Brockport from 2000 to 2002, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Physical Education / Sports Management.
