Björn Hansson has a diverse and extensive work experience. Björn currently holds the position of CTO & deputy CEO at Excillum since January 2021, and previously served as the CEO from March 2013 to January 2021. Prior to Excillum, Björn worked at Acreo AB as a Group Manager from February 2010 to June 2011, and as a Senior Scientist from October 2008 to January 2010. Björn was responsible for system integration and focused on non-telecom applications of optical fiber technology. Before that, Björn worked as an Owner/Consultant at BAM Innovation AB from September 2006 to August 2008, where they had a development contract with Cymer, Inc. Björn also served as a Senior Scientist at Cymer, Inc from April 2004 to August 2006, where they were responsible for system integration of EUV source-system prototypes. Björn began their career as a PhD Researcher at the Royal Institute of Technology from June 1998 to December 2003, where they developed liquid-xenon-jet laser-plasma technology and presented their work at international conferences. Additionally, they co-founded Innolite AB and served as the Vice President from January 2001 to March 2003, leading technical development in laser-plasma EUV sources and managing a research and development team.
Björn Hansson completed their education in a chronological order. Björn attended Sånnaskolan in Åhus from 1984 to 1987, and then Österängskolan in Kristianstad from 1987 to 1990. In 1992, they enrolled at The Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, where they obtained a M.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics in 1998. Following this, they pursued further studies at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology from 1998 to 2003, earning a Ph.D. in Engineering Physics. In the middle of their education, in 1997, they also spent a year studying at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, although it is not stated whether they obtained any degree during that time.
