Excillum
Emil Espes is an experienced professional in the field of X-ray imaging and materials science, currently serving as the Head of Segment – NDT and Medical and Business Development Manager at Excillum since January 2014. In this role, Emil oversees global responsibilities for the X-ray imaging business segment, focusing on applications such as EV-battery inspection through fast in-line microCT, NanoCT, and Phase Contrast Imaging. Prior experience includes positions as an Area Sales Manager at Excillum, an R&D Engineer, and a Development Engineer at Sandvik Coromant, where responsibilities included X-ray Computed Tomography. Emil began a career in research with a Master’s thesis at Applied Nano Surfaces AB and an internship as a Research Assistant at Sandvik Tooling AB. Emil holds a Master of Science degree in Physics with a specialization in Materials Science from Uppsala University.

Excillum is a company the operates in the field of high-end microfocus and nanofocus X-ray sources. Excillum was founded in 2007 by researchers from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Stockholm, Sweden. The first product was market released in 2010, the MetalJet. The unique metal-jet-anode concept of the Excillum x-ray source enables a morethan tenfold increase of x-ray brightness compared to conventional technology.The company is on a mission to enable new science, improve medicine and enhance manufacturing by continous development of state-of-the-art X-ray sources.
