Clare Suss has a diverse range of work experience in the field of education and language teaching. Clare started their career in 1995 as an Assistant Course Manager at CITE Associates Training provider. Clare then moved on to work at City of Westminster College, where they held various roles such as Training Placement Officer, Programme Development Manager, and Acting TEC funded programmes manager from 1996 to 1999. In 1999, they became an EFL teacher at Bear English School in Fujisawa, Japan, and after that at Internexus London from 2000 to 2002. Clare then joined the University of Exeter as a Pre and In Sessional English Teacher from 2003 to 2004. In the same year, they also worked as an IELTS teacher at Exeter Tutorial College. From 2007 to 2014, they worked as an ESOL teacher at Exeter College and started teaching GCSE, ESOL and Functional Skills from 2011. During this time, they also became a CELTA Main Course Tutor from 2014. In 2011, they started working as an IGCSE examiner for English as a Second Language at Cambridge Assessment English. In 2017, they joined Pearson as a GCSE English Language examiner. Overall, Clare Suss has a wealth of experience in teaching and examining English language skills at various levels.

Clare Suss holds several degrees and certifications in the field of education. Clare completed their Master of Education (MEd) degree with a focus on Language and Literacy at the University of Exeter from 2021 to 2024. Before that, in 2008 to 2009, they obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the same institution. Prior to their time at the University of Exeter, Clare studied Social and Political Studies at The University of Sheffield from 1992 to 1995.

In addition to their academic degrees, Clare also obtained two certifications. In 2001, they received the DELTA certification from Cambridge Assessment. In 1997, they obtained the CTESOL certification from Trinity College London.
