Vanja Svacko has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. They started their career as an Associate at the Croatian Philology Institute in Zagreb, Croatia in 1990. They then worked as a Lecturer at the University Taras Shevchenko in Kiev, Ukraine from 1994 to 1998. Afterwards, they became a Lecturer at Delhi University from 1998 to 2000 and later at Beijing Foreign Studies University from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2004, they served as an Associate at the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics. Then, they joined Delhi University again as a Lecturer from 2004 to 2006. In 2012, they decided to become a freelance writer and translator. They continued their freelance career as an interpreter from 2015 and currently work as a Learning Assistant at Exeter College since 2020.
Vanja Svacko attended Gimnazija "Mosa Pijade" in Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1978 to 1982, where they completed their secondary education. Following this, from 1982 to 1989, Vanja pursued their higher education at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. They studied Slavic Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics, focusing on a general program.
