Richard Nelson

Richard Nelson has over two decades of experience in executive roles, having held positions such as Vice President of Research at Lavastorm, Vice President of Spectral Sensors at Solid State Scientific Corp., and currently serving as Partner and Chief Financial Officer of EXPANSIA. During their time at Solid State Scientific, they oversaw the development of numerous sensor products, and managed 28 contracts worth over $29 million in total for advanced electro-optic systems with various military branches. Additionally, they authored winning proposals for over 31 funded contracts and earned a success rate of 45%.

Richard Nelson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics and Italian from Brigham Young University, which they obtained in 1992. In 1995, they completed their S.M.M.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the same field from the same institution in 1999. The most recent academic achievement that Richard has obtained is a Master's Degree in Business Administration and Management from the Harvard Extension School, which they acquired in 2014. Richard also holds two certifications from Scaled Agile, Inc., namely Certified SAFe® 4 Program Consultant, and Certified Scaled Agilist (SA).
