Costas Calamvokis has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Costas started their career in 1990 as a Principal Engineer at Hewlett Packard Labs Bristol, where they worked on the development of a programmable packet classification ASIC and filed several patents.
After that, they worked as a Senior ASIC Engineer and Leader at PMC-Sierra, leading an ASIC design team for a multi-Tb/s switch core chipset.
In 2010, Calamvokis joined Fishman Transducers Inc. as a Consultant, where they played a key role in the development of the TriplePlay Guitar to MIDI system.
Later, they joined Barefoot Networks as a Senior Staff Engineer, responsible for developing a register-accurate C++ model of switching ASICs and working on the architecture of the Deparser of the second ASIC, with three pending patents.
In 2019, Calamvokis became a Senior Staff Engineer in the Barefoot Division of Intel Corporation and was promoted to Director of Modeling, Switch & Fabric Group (Barefoot) in 2020. In this role, they managed a team of 8 to 10 people, developing a unified, register-accurate C++ model of switching chips and ensuring positive team culture.
Currently, they are working as a Distinguished Engineer at Expedera Inc., starting in 2023.
Costas Calamvokis pursued their Master's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Imperial College London. Costas studied at the institution from 1986 until 1990.
