Akshay Gugnani is a Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder of Expertia AI. Prior to this role, they were an Entrepreneur In Residence at Entrepreneur First from 2020. From 2017 to 2020, they worked as a Software Engineering Researcher at IBM, where they developed an Early Warning Signal (EWS) detection system for Non-Performing Assets (NPA) and an Information Extraction pipeline. In 2016, they were a Research Intern at Samsung India. In 2015, they were an Undergraduate Researcher at MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). In 2013, they were a Business Lead at Google Students Club, where they aimed to usher in a culture of developers in the campus. In 2016, they were a Research Intern at IBM Research Lab, where they developed a normalized candidate mapping system and a semantic and text structure based natural language processing system. In 2015, they were a Summer Intern at KritiKal Solutions, where they worked on projects based on Web-development and software development. In 2012, they were President of the Mathematical Society at Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram, New Delhi.

Akshay Gugnani attended Delhi Public School - R. K. Puram from 2000 to 2013, where they studied Computer Programming with Science. Akshay then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science from SRM University from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for Computer Science but did not receive a degree. In 2020, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Additionally, they obtained two First Patent Files from IBM in April 2020.
