Richard Smith is an accomplished executive with extensive expertise in technology governance, risk management, and innovation across various sectors. Currently serving as Vice President of Technology Governance and Risk Management at Expo City Dubai since February 2023, Richard previously held the position of Vice President of Innovation & Future Technology at Expo 2020 Dubai until September 2025, where responsibilities included IT governance in a mega event context. Prior to these roles, Richard was a Senior Partner at Vecta Strategy, focusing on tailored consultancy solutions in multiple industries. Richard's experience also includes significant leadership roles at Emirates Global Aluminium, where management of IT governance processes was paramount, and a lengthy tenure at Deloitte Technology Consulting, where Richard advanced from consultant to Managing Director. Richard's educational credentials include a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge and various degrees from the University of Cape Town.
