Alex Stern

Alex Stern, PhD, is a Managing Scientist at Exponent since October 2021, previously serving as a Senior Scientist and Scientist. Prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Researcher role at the Max Planck Institute from September 2018 to September 2021, where new uniaxial strain-based measurement techniques were developed, and leadership skills were further honed. Alex was a Doctoral Researcher at UC Irvine from September 2013 to June 2018, focusing on novel materials and developing computational simulations, while also producing publications in scientific journals. Additional experience includes a Research Engineer position at Western Digital and a Data Scientist role at the Defense Microelectronic Activity, where data engineering, analysis, and machine learning were leveraged. Academic qualifications include a PhD and MS in Physics from UC Irvine and a BS in Applied Physics from the University of California, Davis.
