Principal Scientist at Exponent

Nathan Soderborg has had a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Nathan started their career as a Scientific Consultant at Decision Consultants from 1991 to 1994. At Ford Motor Company, they held various roles, including Supervisor in Reliability Methods, Quality Strategy & Technology from 1995 to 1999, Six Sigma Master Black Belt from 2000 to 2009, and Quality Associate in Alpha Simultaneous Engineering in 1994. Currently, they are working as a Principal Scientist at Exponent since 2009, focusing on proactive improvement of manufacturing and product development systems, quality assessment and risk management, data analysis and visualization, as well as mathematical modeling for product engineering, testing, and manufacturing. Throughout their career, Nathan has demonstrated expertise in process improvement, Six Sigma, and Design for Six Sigma projects, particularly in the automotive industry.

Nathan Soderborg holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, which they obtained from 1986 to 1991. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science in Engineering and Management with a focus on System Design & Management Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2000 to 2002. Prior to their advanced degrees, Nathan earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Brigham Young University, attending from 1981 to 1986. Nathan completed their secondary education at Alta High School from 1978 to 1981. In addition to their academic achievements, Nathan Soderborg holds two certifications. Nathan obtained the ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt certification in June 2003 from ASQ - World Headquarters and the ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer certification in March 1998, from the same institution.
