Erik Müllers, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Erik is currently working as the Director of Project Biology at Exscientia, where they provide project leadership for small-molecule drug discovery programs. Previously, they worked at AstraZeneca as both an Associate Director/Team Leader and a Team Leader in the Cell and Molecular Pharmacology (CMP) department. In these roles, they led teams and supported drug projects across various disease areas. Prior to that, they held positions at Karolinska Institutet as a Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist, where they focused on cancer cell biology and led several research projects. Erik also conducted their PhD research on retrovirology at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics, where they studied the molecular interactions of Foamy Virus with host cells. Additionally, throughout their career, they have been actively involved in teaching, mentoring, and organizing workshops and projects to promote science communication and collaboration.
Erik Müllers, PhD, earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Molecular Biotechnology from Technische Universität Dresden in 2007. Erik then pursued further studies at the same institution, earning their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Cell Biology and Virology in 2011. Prior to their university education, Erik participated in an international exchange program and attended Dallas High School in Oregon, USA during the 2000-2001 academic year.
