Michael Grenier

President at Extensible Energy

Michael Grenier has had a long and successful career in the energy industry. In 2010, they founded and served as Managing Partner of Smart Energy Capital, a distributed generation development, finance and investment company focused exclusively on the North American solar photovoltaic industry. In 2013, the company was acquired by NextEra Energy Resources, where they served as Managing Director of Distributed Generation until 2016. In 2016, they took a Summer Sabbatical as Executive Director and then in 2016 they became Managing Partner of Wy'East Ventures. In 2017, they joined the Board of Directors of One Energy Inc, where they served as an independent director and helped advise the company through a recapitalization, CEO-transition, return to profitability, and a quadrupling of their project pipeline. Michael also served as a Member Board of Advisors and Investor for Key Capture Energy, a leading utility scale energy storage IPP. In 2020, they became Managing Partner of BluOx Ventures and Advisor for Fracsun. Finally, in 2021, they took on the role of President of Extensible Energy, a new class of energy management platform, purpose built for small and medium commercial buildings.

Michael Grenier graduated from Stanford University in 1999 with a BA (honors) in Public Policy. Michael then went on to the University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business, graduating in 2005 with an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship.
