Thomas Puschmann's work experience includes founding and serving as the Executive Director of the Global Center for Sustainable Digital Finance at Stanford University School of Engineering since 2023. Prior to that, they were a Professor at the University of the Fraser Valley starting in 2022. In 2021, they co-founded the Extreme Tech Challenge Switzerland. From 2018, they served as a member of the Commission for Digitization of the Swiss Bankers’ Association (SBA) at SwissBanking - Schweizerische Bankiervereinigung. In 2017, they became a member of the Swiss Innovation Council at Innosuisse - Schweizerische Agentur für Innovationsförderung. Thomas also served as the Head of Swiss FinTech Innovation Lab at the University of Zurich from 2016. Thomas Puschmann has held various roles in organizations focused on blockchain and digital technologies, including Chairman of Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies at SNV Schweizerische Normen-Vereinigung, President of Swiss Digital Trade Platform, and Founding Member of the Blockchain Taskforce of the Swiss Federal Council at Swiss Blockchain Federation. Thomas was also a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University from 2019 to 2020.
From 1993 to 1999, Thomas Puschmann studied Information Engineering at the University of Konstanz. Following that, they pursued a degree in Information Systems Engineering at the University of St.Gallen from 1999 to 2002, earning their Dr. oec HSG. Thomas then went on to complete their Habilitation from 2009 to 2016 at the University of St. Gallen & University of Leipzig, although the field of study for this degree is not specified.
