John Gorla has extensive work experience in the defense industry. John started their career in 1988 in the United States Air Force, where they reached the rank of Lt Col before retiring in 2008. John then joined the United States Department of Defense in 2009, where they served in various roles related to the F-35 program, including Lead Logistician, Deputy Director of Logistics Strategy & Business Integration, and F-35 FMS Sustainment Lead. In 2019, they moved to the F-35 Joint Program Office, where they initially served as the Lead of the Sustainment Technical Data Team. Currently, they hold the position of F-35 MxSys PMO | Director of Business Operations.

John Gorla has an educational background that includes a Master of Science degree in Business Analytics from the University of Notre Dame - Mendoza College of Business, which they obtained from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science degree in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology-Graduate School of Engineering & Management, which they completed from 1995 to 1996. John'sundergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, which they obtained from 1983 to 1987.

In addition to their formal education, John Gorla has obtained various certifications. These include a DAWIA Level I Information Technology/Software certification from the United States Department of Defense, which they acquired in September 2018. John also completed an Introduction to R certification from DataCamp in October 2017. Furthermore, they obtained an International Affairs Career Professional, Level III certification from the Department of Defense in March 2014. Prior to that, they acquired a DAWIA Level III Life Cycle Logistics certification in May 2010 from the Department of Defense. Further certifications include Defense Acquisition Professional Community in July 2005 and DAWIA Level II Program Management in May 1999, both from the Department of Defense.
