Janelle has 20 years experience in operational and dealmaking roles in the biopharma industry and with venture capital funds. She served as Chief Strategy Officer of Century Therapeutics, a company that she was instrumental in founding while an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Versant Ventures. Janelle drove the execution of deals and external partnerships that enabled Century's scientific and strategic objectives, including securing its foundational technology and acquiring Empirica Therapeutics. Previously, while at Merck, Janelle headed Finance for Biologics and Vaccines R&D, built Merck's therapeutic-focused venture arm, MRL Ventures Fund, and served as its Managing Director. She was also a Managing Partner at CTI Life Sciences Fund where she led U.S. biotech transactions, and interim Chief Executive Officer of Access Scientific while at Carrot Capital. She currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Gardiner Healthcare Acquisitions Corp and Jazz House Kids. She began her career as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group and is a chemist by training, having received her B.Sc. in Chemistry (Honours) from McGill University, and A.M. and Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University.
