FABP Biotech is a spin-off of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation created under the regulatory framework of the Brazilian Technological Innovation Law to develop anti-helminth vaccines for animal use.

FABP Biotech holds the exclusive licensing of patents and rights for the final development, registration, and commercialization of vaccines and veterinary products based on Sm14.

The Sm14 Fatty Acid Binding Protein elicits a robust immune response in animals with helminth infections, making it a promising target for a multivalent vaccine. A range of globally filed and granted patents describe the use of Sm14 in vaccines, and researchers continue to explore its potential as a prophylactic and therapeutic tool.

FABP Biotech currently explores the Sm14 technology in two ways:

1. LIVAC ® — Sm14 vaccine to prevent fasciolosis in livestock (cattle, goats, and sheep).

2. Sm14PET — Sm14 vaccine for worms that affect pets, such as heartworm.
