Tom Kober

Tom Kober is a Professor für erneuerbare Energie und Energiesysteme at Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW since February 2024, specializing in teaching solar, wind, and hydro power technologies, energy storage, and project realization. Previous experience includes serving as Head of the Energy Economics Group at Paul Scherrer Institut PSI, where responsibilities encompassed managing research on energy infrastructure developments and decarbonisation pathways from April 2016 to January 2024. In a prior role at the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), Tom Kober focused on low-carbon energy technology assessment and regional burden sharing schemes from February 2012 to March 2016. Earlier experience includes research on energy system analysis at the University of Stuttgart from October 2005 to December 2011, with a specific focus on the German and European energy markets. Tom Kober holds a Dr.-Ing. in Energiewirtschaft from the University of Stuttgart and a Diplom in Industrial Engineering and Management from Dresden University of Technology.
