Mariel Gonzales

Mariel Gonzales joined Facing History and Ourselves as Chief Financial Officer in 2018. She has an accomplished career in youth development and education, holding leadership positions in development, operations, strategy and finance for organizations with missions to promote social justice and encourage young people to act with courage.

Mariel joins us from BPE (formerly Boston Plan for Excellence), an organization that trains teachers in urban Teaching Academies, where she served as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. Prior to BPE, she was the Chief Financial Officer for YouthBuild USA for nearly a decade where the budget grew from $17M to $36M over her first three years, requiring her to establish processes for managing growth, expanding impact, and increasing compliance and efficiency. She received a B.A in Asian Studies from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
