Managing Director at F1000

Rebecca Lawrence has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Rebecca started their career as a pre-registration pharmacist at Charing Cross Hospital in 1994. Rebecca also worked briefly as a pharmacist at Boots in 1995.

In 1999, Rebecca joined Elsevier where they worked as a Publishing Manager for the Drug Discovery Group. During their time there, they played a key role in launching four new review journals, transforming Drug Discovery Today from a small monthly subscription-only journal to a large twice-a-month magazine. Rebecca also collaborated with Reed Exhibitions to launch a major drug discovery conference.

From 2006 to 2009, Rebecca served as the Editorial Director at Current BioData Ltd, where they built and managed a large editorial team. They focused on identifying the validation of links between proteins and diseases from across scientific literature and patents, primarily for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

In 2009, Rebecca joined Faculty of 1000 Ltd as the Director of New Product Development. Rebecca was responsible for launching F1000 Posters, an open access repository of posters and slides. Rebecca also built and managed external partnerships for Faculty of 1000.

Rebecca then moved on to F1000 Research Ltd in 2012, where they served as the Managing Director. Rebecca oversaw the development and launch of the new open access journal, F1000Research. Additionally, they were responsible for managing F1000Posters, an open access repository for posters and slides.

In 2015, Rebecca became the Managing Director of F1000, where they were in charge of three services: F1000Prime, F1000Workspace, and F1000Research. F1000Prime provides expert-based recommendations of important articles in biology and medicine. These recommendations are integrated into the F1000Workspace platform.

Rebecca also gained experience working in the public sector. From 2016 to 2020, they served as a Member of the Open Science Policy Platform (OSPP) at the European Commission.

Throughout their career, Rebecca has demonstrated expertise in publishing, open access, research, and product development. Their experience spans both the private and public sectors, and they have made significant contributions to the scientific community.

Rebecca Lawrence has an extensive education history that spans over several years. Following this, Rebecca Lawrence pursued higher education in the field of healthcare and attended the University of Wales, Cardiff from 1991 to 1994. During their time there, they earned a BPharm degree, specializing in Pharmacy.

Rebecca Lawrence continued their educational pursuits and went on to complete a PhD at the University of Nottingham. From 1996 to 1999, they delved into the field of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, focusing their research and studies on this area.
