King's Counsel at Faculty of Advocates

Usman Tariq K.C. is an accomplished legal professional currently serving as King's Counsel at the Faculty of Advocates since July 2011. This appointment was made by Their Majesty the King on the recommendation of the First Minister of Scotland. Usman is also a member of Ampersand Advocates and has held various significant roles including Junior Counsel to the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry and Standing Junior Counsel to the Advocate General for Scotland. As founder of the Scottish Ethnic Minorities Lawyers Association, Usman focuses on supporting ethnic minority lawyers and law students. Previous experience includes serving as Advocate Depute at the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and participating in the Mosaic Network as a leadership group member. Usman's education includes advanced degrees from the University of Cambridge in Commercial Law and the University of Strathclyde in Legal Practice, alongside a First Class Honours LL.B. from the University of Glasgow.
