Nicki Sandberg

Nicki Sandberg has a diverse range of work experience, starting in 2004 as a Communication Coordinator for the University Mentorship Program. Nicki then worked as a Research Assistant at the Metropolitan Institute, where they developed measures and projections for residential space usage and public facility development. Nicki also served as a GIS Specialist at Virginia Tech - Virginia Cooperative Extension, where they contributed to a research project investigating suitable locations for community food systems. Nicki later joined the Center for a Livable Future, JHU as a GIS Specialist and Research Assistant, where they co-managed a multi-layer GIS mapping project on state and local food systems.

In 2009, Nicki Sandberg joined the Peace Corps as a Business Advisor. During their time there, they advised and trained small women's groups in improving business practices, developed lesson plans and taught courses in high school chemistry and adult English, and facilitated workshops on health/nutrition and HIV/AIDS education. Nicki also fostered intercultural awareness between Honduras and the U.S.

Nicki's work in the public health sector includes roles as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Ypsilanti and a Council Member for the Washtenaw Food Policy Council. Nicki also served as a Health Program Planner for the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

Most recently, Nicki Sandberg has been working at the Fair Food Network, starting as a Grants Manager and later transitioning to the role of Senior Grant Accountant. Currently, they hold the position of Associate Director of Finance.

Nicki Sandberg pursued their education at the University of Michigan from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Following this, they attended Virginia Tech from 2007 to 2009, where they obtained a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree with a specialization in Community Development and Food Systems Planning.
