Nardos King

Interim Chief Equity Officer at Fairfax County Public Schools

Dr. King was appointed interim chief equity officer for FCPS effective December 6, 2021.

She began her career in FCPS as an administrative assistant at Hunt Valley Elementary School. She then transferred to Mount Vernon High School to become a finance technician and later advanced to instructional assistant, special education teacher, assistant principal, and principal—all at Mount Vernon High School. She served as Mount Vernon High School principal for nine years and was recognized as First-Year Principal of the Year in 2007. King was named the assistant superintendent for high schools for Baltimore County Public Schools in 2015, and her work included improving social, cultural, and academic outcomes for more than 113,000 students. Among her accomplishments in Baltimore County, King implemented the first Early College Magnet Program in the division and increased high school graduation rates each year with zero gap between black and white students.

She earned a doctorate degree in education leadership and policy studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She holds two master's of arts degrees in special education and education leadership from George Washington University and George Mason University, and a bachelor of science degree in business information systems from Virginia State University.
