J. Donald Sheets

Don Sheets is Vice Chairman of the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee for Covia, serving as a board member since January 2021. Don recently completed his service on the board of American Zinc Recycling, serving as Audit Committee Chair from 2017 to 2022. He also serves on the board of Tri-Star Trust Bank and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation, where he serves as Audit Committee Chair. Don has previously served as a Director and Audit Committee Chair of Wolverine Bancorp from 2007 to 2017 and served on the Board and as Chair of MidMichigan Health System from 2009 to 2020. For 34 years, he was employed by Dow Corning Corporation, a global provider of specialty silicon-based materials to a variety of industrial and specialty markets. He served as Chief Financial Officer of Dow Corning for 13 years, after successfully leading the development and successful launch of XIAMETER™, a web-based business application allowing for the efficient production and sale of commodity silicones. Don earned his M.B.A with high distinction from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1987 and his B.A. in Management, Economics and Accounting from Albion College, magna cum laude, in 1982.

Its Proppant Solutions segment provides sand-based proppants for use in hydraulic fracturing operations throughout the United States and Canada, Argentina, Mexico, China, northern Europe and the United Arab Emirates. Its I&R segment provides raw, coated, and custom blended sands to the foundry, building products, glass, turf and landscape, and filtration industries in North America. Its asset base includes approximately 800 million tons of proven and probable mineral reserves. As of March 2017, the Company had 10 sand processing facilities with 16.8 million tons of annual sand processing capacity. Its coating facilities include operations in Mexico, Denmark and China, through which it serves international oil and gas markets.
