Matt Herndon

SVP & Chief State Programs Officer at Fallon Health

Matt Herndon is Fallon Health’s Chief State Programs Officer—a leadership role that is exclusively focused on state programs. He joined the organization in early 2022 to lead Fallon in its commitment to the changing and unique needs of the diverse communities it serves.

Herndon has extensive experience in health care, particularly MassHealth. He most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare, an international nonprofit focused on advancing compassionate care through programs, education, and advocacy. Prior to that, he was the Chief Legal Officer for Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan, where he was responsible for the strategy and performance of the organization’s Managed Care Organization (MCO) product and was plan co-lead of its Accountable Care Organization (ACO) product.

He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Case Western University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College.
