Sarah Hinman has a diverse work experience spanning over 10 years. In 2009, they began their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant to Dr. Sandra L. Caron at the University of Maine. In 2010, they continued their work at the University of Maine as a Graduate Assistant in Human Development. In 2011, they were a Field Organizer Intern at Equality Maine and an Officer of Outreach and Professional Development at the Graduate Student Government, where they received the Graduate Dean's Recognition Award for Excellent Service to Graduate Students. In 2012, they worked as a Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator at the Muscular Dystrophy Association and a Professional Ski Instructor at Sugarloaf. In 2014, they worked as a Development Support Staff at Maine Behavioral Health Organization and held two positions at Carrabassett Valley Academy, as an Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Connections and a Dorm Parent. Since 2017, they have been working at the University of Maine at Farmington as a Financial Literacy Peer Education Coordinator and an Admissions/Financial Aid Counselor. In 2022, they began working as a Financial Education Specialist at the Finance Authority of Maine.

Sarah Hinman obtained their Master of Science (M.S.) in Human Development and Family Studies, General from the University of Maine between 2006 and 2012. Prior to that, they attended Greely High School between 2002 and 2006. Sarah also holds a PSIA Level 1 Certification.
