Alexander Kaplan, MD, MPH has a diverse work experience in the field of psychiatry. Alexander is currently working at the Family Care Center as the Associate Director of Research and Clinical Director. Prior to this, they worked at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center as a Staff Psychiatrist, Medical Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health, Associate Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency Program, and Core Faculty of the Psychiatry Residency Program. Alexander also served as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at both the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center - College of Medicine and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Before their academic appointments, they worked in the US Army as a Physician, with the rank of MAJ (current rank), and served as the Chief, Officer in Charge of the Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison Service. Alexander started their medical career as a Medical Student at the US Army and later became an Executive Chief Resident and Resident Physician at the Tripler Army Medical Center.

Alexander Kaplan, MD, MPH obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Biological Sciences and History from Florida State University, where they studied from 2007 to 2011. Alexander then attended the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, earning their Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees from 2011 to 2015. Moreover, they have additional certifications in CITI Good Clinical Practice and Group 2 Social and Behavioral Research Investigators and Staff, obtained in August 2021 from the CITI Program.
