Family Tree
Shannon Slankard is an experienced professional in social work and advocacy with a focus on domestic violence and trauma-informed care. Currently serving as the Residential Director for Roots of Courage and Lead Domestic Violence Advocate at Family Tree since May 2022, Shannon provides individual, group, and family advocacy, crisis intervention, and self-sufficiency planning for shelter residents. Previous roles include Substitute Teacher at Bishop Kelley High School, Intern Client Navigator at Family Safety Center Tulsa, and various positions in customer service and support, including Intern at Family & Children's Services and Behavioral Health Technician at ACES. Shannon holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma.

For nearly four decades, Family Tree has provided innovative, life-changing services designed to end child abuse and neglect, domestic violence and homelessness. As the only organization in the Denver metro area working to address the inter-connectedness among these issues, Family Tree is changing how individuals, families and communities see, respond to and overcome them. In the past year, Family Tree provided services to tens of thousands of people in efforts to empower individuals to discover their own strengths to create lasing, positive change.
