Sina Sports was founded in 1998 and is a subsidiary of Sina Corporation. Sam Li joined Sina Sports as Head of International in March 2015. In this role, they are responsible for global business strategy of Sina Sports and Weibo Sports.

Some of Li's notable achievements include co-creating the FIBA-endorsed 3x3 basketball tournaments Sina Golden League and Sina Elite League, as well as sourcing and leading key deals with Mediapro, beIN SPORTS, Fox Sports, ESPN, and other broadcasters. Sam has also acquired international and domestic sports content from the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, UFC, Manchester United, the tennis grand slams, PGA Tour, European Tour, the Masters, LPGA, and others.

Under Li's leadership, Sina Sports has generated over $2 million in revenue from international sponsorships and media buys. Sam also manages Weibo accounts for international sports brands.

Sam Li has a corporate innovation degree from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School, and a BS/BA in computer science and engineering / economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
